We
had hired a trip from Spain, we are very supportive of guided tours,
but it's pretty advise, especially the first day if possible, so you get
an idea of what the city and you fit much better the other day. The
tour was called "Upper and Lower Manhattan" and for about 4 hours, you
got around by bus around the district, making some stops in the most
important. Days
later, another trip would realize highly recommended called
"Contrasts", helps you learn more the other boroughs of New York, but
this I will discuss in later chapters.I
remember during the tour of the district of Manhattan, we made
countless photographs, the streets were deserted as it was half past 9
am on a Saturday and had not much movement. Quite
surprising to see the streets as well, as you are in New York, expect
to see the streets crowded and noisy, but apparently there also rest ...The
bus left from the agency which hired the tour, was very close to Times
Square, in theory ofertaban excursions for Latinos, Spanish and Italian,
but almost everything explained in Italian but there were many more
Spanish as in our case, however, we were a little like we were going to our roll ...After
spending "magazine", the bus departed north toward Central Park, where
we ran into this immense park completely snowed in the middle of cement,
a beautiful picture, we began to surround, to the building where John
Lennon was killed, to the Museum of Art where they filmed the movie "Night at the Museum". And
the famous Fifth Avenue to the south, through the Rockefeler Center,
Times Square, Empire State Building, Flatiron (building known as the
Iron for its triangular shape), take the Broadway Avenue, heading up the
financial district, through the viewpoint is located across from the World Trade Center, where moles are building new high-rise. Being
in that viewpoint, you form some idea of what happened there this
Sept. 11, noting the magnitude of ground zero and the many tributes and
memories that are there.After
the tour, we were fully placed to undertake the adventure alone, it is
noteworthy that a city is not at all complicated, built in squares, it
is impossible to miss, also thanks to the nomenclature of the streets
(for numbers and correlative ) makes it easy to navigate through it.The
first thing was to eat, restaurants, bars and all kinds of venues for
lunch and dinner, although the food and drink is the most expensive of
the trip if you do not settle for everyday eating burgers and dogs. The truth is that we did not eat hot dogs than in those who had stalls at every corner ...After filling the stomach, direct purchases because as I said before, went without any clothes! We started by Macy's which is very close to Times Square. I have understood that it is the second largest mall in the world, second only to the Dubai Mall. The truth is that is immense and does not find there, you will not find anywhere else. Upon
entering, we headed to the information center, where presenting the
passport, you got a card that you served for a week (I think) and made
you 11% discount on every purchase we would make during that time. A
bargain, because between the prices much cheaper than in Spain, the
winter sales, the discount of 11% and currency exchange, bought jerseys
Tommy, Ralph Lauren and Levi's for example, at 20 euros each even less. Well,
after having hit the first homer of the visa, we ended the day by
dining in Times Square, in a restaurant with giant screens where several
televised NBA games simultaneously and where I was charged $ 7 for a
beer, lol, like cost me three of Calvin Klein underwear.
